Murder suspect escapes jail van

CAMDEN -- Law enforcement officials were searching Wednesday evening for a Ouachita County jail escapee who was being held on a capital murder charge.

Austin Hill, 19, of Camden was also jailed on an aggravated robbery charge in the December 2014 shooting death of a Camden grocery store manager.

Hill escaped about 3 p.m. Wednesday after jumping from a van that was returning him to the jail from court.

He is considered dangerous and was described as black, 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing about 210 pounds. He was last seen wearing white boxer shorts and a white T-shirt. He also had a bandage on one of his hands at the time of his escape.

Hill was arrested Dec. 21 in the shooting death of Richard Anders, 63, the manager of Mac's Fresh Market in Camden.

Anders was walking to his vehicle in the Mac's Fresh Market parking lot about 5:30 p.m. Dec. 19, when police said Hill approached him and shot him once in the chest. Hill took a bag containing about $13,000 and fled, police have said.

Anders later died at Ouachita County Medical Center.

Jaquestin Anderson, 19, of Camden surrendered to Camden police Dec. 24 and also was charged with aggravated robbery and capital murder in Anders' death.

Anderson remained in the jail Wednesday night.
