Sheriff IDs hunter killed in shooting

A hunter killed last weekend in the Greenwood area was identified Thursday as Roy E. Black, 40, of the Huntington area, according to the Sebastian County sheriff's office.

A news release from the sheriff's office said final autopsy results still were pending from the state medical examiner's office. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission was conducting an investigation of the shooting since it occurred during a hunting activity.

A man called the sheriff's office about 8 a.m. Saturday to report the shooting which occurred in the 1900 block of South Coker Road south of Greenwood, the release said. Law enforcement and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and performed lifesaving procedures but Black died at the scene.
