State police report crashes on highways leave 2 dead

Arkansas State Police reported that one man died in a crash Tuesday morning and another man died in a crash last month on Arkansas roads.

A Tyronza man was killed and a Marked Tree woman was injured in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Joiner in Mississippi County, state police reported.

At 11:16 a.m., a Dodge Durango driven by Douglas Henley was headed south on Arkansas 77, 2 miles south of Arkansas 308, when the sport utility vehicle went off the road onto the gravel shoulder, the report said. Henley, 52, overcorrected, and the SUV hit a ditch and overturned, the report said.

Henley died a the scene. Anita Rainwater, 45, a passenger in the SUV, was taken to Regional One Health in Memphis.

On Sept. 20, an El Dorado man was killed and an El Dorado woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 167 north of El Dorado in Union County, according to a state police report released Monday.

A 2008 Mercury Mariner was heading south on U.S. 167 when a 2008 Ford Ranger made a left turn from a driveway in front of the Mercury, the report said. The Mercury pushed the Ford about 36 feet and into a ditch along the east side of the highway, where both vehicles came to a stop.

Harold Oliver, 88, the driver of the Ford, was killed in the crash. Deborah Cook, 51, the driver of the Mercury, was injured in the crash and taken to the Medical Center of South Arkansas.
