A Rogers man was arrested Tuesday in connection with raping a girl.

Luis Enrique Berrios, 50, was being held Thursday in the Benton County Jail with a $250,000 bond set. He was arrested on eight counts of rape, a Class Y felony; and three counts of second-degree sexual assault, a Class B felony.

Berrios was arrested after an 18-year-old woman came to the Benton County sheriff’s office and reported she had been raped, according to a probable cause affidavit. She identified Berrios as her abuser, according to court documents.

The woman reported the sexual abuse began when she was 14, the affidavit states. She provided details of the abuse to Paul Carter, a sheriff’s detective, according to the affidavit.

Berrios, when interviewed by Carter, admitted to having sexual contact with her, according to court documents.

Prosecutors have not filed formal charges against Berrios.

Berrios’ arraignment is scheduled for 8 a.m. Nov. 23 in Circuit Judge Brad Karren’s court.
