Mets call up Reynolds to fill in for SS Tejada

Former Arkansas infielder Matt Reynolds has been added to the New York Mets’ postseason roster, the team announced Monday.

Reynolds is replacing shortstop Ruben Tejada, who suffered a broken left leg in game two of the Mets’ National League divisional Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers when Chase Utley slid into him on a play at second base.

Reynolds, who played at Arkansas in 2010-2012, could become the second player in modern history to make his major league debut in the postseason if he plays — joining Mark Kiger with the Oakland Athletics in 2006 — according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Wilmer Flores is expected to start at shortstop for the Mets in Tejada’s place.

Reynolds, a second-round draft pick by the Mets in 2012, batted .267 with 6 home runs and 65 RBI this season at Class AAA Las Vegas this season. He played in 141 games for the Razorbacks and batted .275 with 72 RBI.
