The latest came Tuesday afternoon when Harrison shot 312, 13 shots better than runner-up Little Rock Christian, to claim another state title at Harrison Country Club.

Caleb Kubacek of Maumelle and Caleb Lloyd of Hot Springs Lakeside finished tied at 73, and it took three playoff holes before Kubacek walked off with medalist honors.

Harrison was the only team with three golfers who shot better than 80. Jackson Marseilles had a 74 to finish third overall, while Logan Greer finished fourth at 75 and August Reynolds shot 79 to tie for ninth.

"The course was playing pretty difficult today, but I thought we played pretty well overall," Harrison Coach Don Price said. "We always would like to have four golfers finish in the 70s, but in a state championship sometimes it takes two and sometimes it takes three.

"It's good to have those scores bunched in there. For us to get three golfers in the 70s and all three to make All-State, they did a great job today."

The Goblins won their 12th consecutive 5A-West Conference championship two weeks ago at Cypress Creek in Cabot, and were considered one of the favorites going into Tuesday.

"I think what put us over the top was the fact that we have more depth," Price said. "Every team has one or maybe two or even three good players, but we have five that are very good. All three times we have won it since I've been here, we have had that depth."

Andrew Mayes shot a 76 to finished fifth and was the only Little Rock Christian golfer to finish among the top 12, but the top four Warriors who counted in the team standings all shot an 84 or better.

Maumelle, the third team out of the 5A-West behind Harrison and Little Rock Christian, finished fourth overall with a 339, a shot back of White Hall.

But Kubacek was the bright spot for the Hornets, finishing with a tournament-best 73 to tie with Lakeside's Lloyd.

"I didn't hit the ball all that well, but I made a lot of good putts, which was great because the greens were rolling pretty fast today," Kubacek said. "I had a triple on 17 because I putted off the green, but then I made a big putt on 18 to get to 73 and tie it up. Then on the second hole of the playoff I made a 5-foot putt that barely snuck into the hole.

"My putter saved me today."
