Greenwood 35, Russellville 0

Greenwood got a strong showing from its defense in a road victory over Russellville.

The Bulldog defense wasn’t perfect, allowing 271 yards of offense and 16 first downs, but always buckled down when it needed to.

Russellville’s second possession had the Cyclones poised for a score, but a fumble at the 22 was recovered by Greenwood (5-0, 2-0 7A/6A Central), one of three turnovers formed by the Bulldogs. The Cyclones’ second possession quickly pushed into Greenwood territory, and a completion looked ready to put them in the red zone, but the Bulldogs popped the ball out at the end of the run, and Grant Morgan hopped on it for the first of three turnovers forced by the guests.

On the first play of the ensuing drive, Luke Hales found Ryan Padilla down the left sideline for a 78-yard touchdown, which was all Greenwood would wind up needing.
