Ex-president Bush stumps for brother

Former President George W. Bush attended a $2,700-per-person lunch fundraiser on his brother's behalf in Rogers on Friday.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who was not present, is among more than a dozen people seeking the Republican nomination for president.

The event was closed to the press.

U.S. Rep. Steve Womack, a Republican from Rogers, was among those who attended the fundraiser Friday. Womack has not yet endorsed anyone for president, his spokesman Claire Burghoff said.

"When a former president visits his district, he's going to be there if he is in town," she said.

The Federal Election Commission's website lists no presidential campaign donations by Womack in this or previous election cycles.

When Womack ran for Congress in 2010, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee campaigned for him. Womack was the only member of the Arkansas House delegation not among the 2016 Arkansas "leadership team" announced Monday for Huckabee's presidential bid.
