HOT SPRINGS -- McTelvin Agim didn't have any carries Friday night, but he helped out Hope's offense tremendously in a 25-14 victory over Hot Springs at Reese Memorial Stadium..
Two long kickoff returns by the Arkansas Razorbacks commitment set up touchdowns, the second a go-ahead, 6-yard pass to Cory Briggs early in the third quarter.
Hope's defense shut out Hot Springs the rest of the way, and Austin Stubber added a 30-yard scoring pass to Andrew Washington.
"I'm proud of our kids," Hope Coach Jay Turley said. "They beat a very good team."
Stubber completed 15 for 24 passes for 224 yards and 4 touchdowns. He threw a 13-yard touchdown strike to Treyvon Lawson in the first quarter and a 80-yarder to Washington in the second.
Hot Springs (3-2, 0-2 5A-South) dominated the first half, at least in time of possession. Keeping the ball on the ground for 46 of their 48 plays, which included two punts and a missed field goal, the Trojans had it for more than 18:30.
Hope (4-1, 2-0) ran only 17 plays, but two went for touchdowns.
Hot Springs' most time-consuming possession was its first. With help of a roughing-the-kicker penalty, the Trojans held the ball for 10:24, scoring on Korey Wasson's 1-yard sneak on the drive's 19th play.
Hope answered on its first play, with Lawson taking a quick out from Stubber and going 13 yards for a touchdown. It came after Agim's 81-yard kickoff return and an offside penalty that moved the Bobcats to the 13.
Kamar Brown blocked Jonathan Garcia's extra-point kick, leaving the Trojans ahead 7-6.
Hot Springs missed a chance after Wasson returned an interception 35 yards to Hope's 23 when Erick Gaudron's 43-yard field-goal attempt fell short.
Stubber found Washington on the next play down the right sideline for an 80-yard touchdown, but Stubber overthrew Agim on the two-point conversion pass as Hope took a 12-7.
Hot Springs answered with an 83-yard drive, with Wasson tossing an 18-yard pass to Floyd for a go-ahead score that gave the Trojans a 14-21 lead going into halftime.
