Man killed, woman injured in fire that destroys Little Rock home

An elderly man died and a woman sustained injuries Sunday when their home burned down, according to Little Rock Fire Department spokesman Capt. Randy Hickmon.

Five fire units, two battalion chiefs and Little Rock police responded to 1805 Princeton Drive after receiving a 911 call at 3:15 p.m. Sunday from the couple's neighbor, Hickmon said.

The names of the residents were not released as of late Sunday.

Fire crews searched the single-story, 1,000-square-foot home three times before they found the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, Hickmon said.

"We got the lady out; she was transported to UAMS," Hickmon said.

The fire was extinguished about 5 p.m., and the blaze is under investigation.

"We do not know at this time how it was started," Hickmon said.
