Flood warnings persist in Arkansas as rain moves out

LITTLE ROCK — Flood warnings remain in effect throughout parts of Arkansas after heavy rainfall caused some river flooding.

The National Weather Service says several rivers and streams in the lower Arkansas, Buffalo, Black, Spring and White river systems are flooded after the weekend's heavy rainfall.

The weather service says major flooding is occurring on the Cache River near Patterson in eastern Arkansas. Forecasters say the river was at 12.1 feet on Sunday night. That's 3 feet above flood stage. The weather service says water is covering some roads and flooding cropland, pastures and timberland in Craighead, Jackson and Woodruff counties.

Forecasters also predict major flooding at the Little River at Horatio in southwest Arkansas. The river is about 3 feet above flood stage.

Forecasters say the rain should move out later Monday.
