The victim, Brandon Joyner, was hit twice by a car during the brawl, witnesses told police.

Just before 8 p.m., police found Joyner of 4815 Mabelvale Pike lying in the street unconscious and surrounded by several people near 1220

S. Pierce St., according to a report filed late Saturday.

A witness told police that Joyner had been hit by a gray 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse that she believed was driven by Harold Propps III of 6919 Mabelvale Cove in Little Rock, the report said.

Police took Propps, who turns 22 today, to the 12th Street substation for questioning that night, the report said.

Metropolitan EMS transported Joyner, who was in critical condition, to the UAMS Medical Center. He died late Wednesday night, police spokesman Lt. Steven McClanahan said.

Police investigated the incident initially as a first-degree battery case and had not charged anyone as of Thursday.

McClanahan said the evidence would be turned over to Prosecuting Attorney Larry Jegley’s office, which will decide whether to charge anyone with a crime.

Joyner is the third homicide victim this week in Little Rock.

On Tuesday, Derrick Jermaine Mason, 37, called police to his 2511 Bishop St. home off of Roosevelt Road and told police he had choked to death his girlfriend, Jessica Ryan Berliew, 34, during an argument, according to a police report. He pleaded innocent in Little Rock District Court on Wednesday. He remains in Pulaski County jail on a $75,000 bond.

Berliew’s body was taken to the state Crime Laboratory for autopsy.

At 5:46 a.m. Wednesday, police found Ronaldo Wade of Little Rock dead of an apparent gunshot wound in the driver’s seat of a gold Toyota Avalon with the driver’s side glass blown out at 3802 Zion St. near Union Park. The person who called 911 told police he had arrived home at 5:30 a.m. and found Wade like that. Police had not arrested anyone Wednesday.

Before this week, the city had not had a homicide since Sept. 22.
