Fayetteville man pleads not guilty in stabbing death

FAYETTEVILLE -- A man accused of stabbing to death a family member in October pleaded not guilty to capital murder Wednesday in Washington County Circuit Court.

Fayetteville police found David Allen, 25, with stab wounds early Oct. 24 at the Stadium Apartments, 1069 Olympic Place, Apt. 108, according to a police news release. Allen died later at a hospital.

Police said Allen had been stabbed 10 times in the back and once in the neck.

Cantrell A. Graydon, 31, of Fayetteville was arrested later the day of the stabbing. He is charged with capital murder and parole violation. Graydon has an initial court date of Jan. 21 before Circuit Judge Mark Lindsay.

Witnesses at the apartment told police there was a fight between family members and Graydon stabbed Allen, according to the arrest report.

Graydon is being held at the Washington County Detention Center on a $250,000 bond.
