Former Trojan part of new-look Jackets

FAYETTEVILLE — Former UALR forward James White is part of a major transfer movement at Georgia Tech.

White, one of five transfers on the roster, is averaging 5.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 14.8 minutes as a reserve for the Yellow Jackets, who play Arkansas on Thursday in New York in the Preseason NIT.

“He’s giving them an athletic guy inside running the floor that rebounds the ball,” Arkansas Coach Mike Anderson said. “He’s giving them quality depth.”

White transferred to Georgia Tech as a graduate student after playing 77 games for UALR, where he averaged 9.6 points and 5.0 rebounds. He played in 15 games last year before sustaining a season-ending leg injury.

Four transfers are starting for Yellow Jackets: senior forwards Nick Jacobs [Alabama] and Charles Mitchell [Maryland], senior guard Adam Smith [Virginia Tech] and junior guard Josh Heath [South Florida].
