Forecasters predict much of Arkansas will be soaked with wet weather over the Thanksgiving weekend, including some areas that could get up to 7 inches of rain.

Officials with the National Weather Service in Little Rock say light rain is expected to start to falling Thursday night and increase during the day Friday before tapering off Sunday.

Between 5 and 7 inches of rain is forecast for roughly the northwestern half of the state including much of central Arkansas and Little Rock. Some pockets in the western mountains could see even more than that, the weather service said.

A flash flood watch for Thursday and Friday is in effect in northwestern areas around Fayetteville. Joe Goudsward, senior forecaster with the weather service in North Little Rock, said remnants from last week's storm — such as already high-flowing creeks and drains left blocked by wet leaves — could produce more flooding in some areas.

Temperatures for the weekend will mostly remain in the 50s and low 60s, while possibly dipping to the high 40s overnight Saturday and Sunday, according to weather service predictions.
