Photographer showcases work

Wilderness photographer Tim Ernst will give presentations from his latest book, “A Rare Quality of Light: 40 Years of Wilderness Photography.”

Ernst will be at the Fayetteville Public Library at 2 p.m. Sunday and at the Bentonville Public Library at 1 p.m. Dec. 5. Both programs are free.

Each presentation will feature Ernst’s photos from the Virgin Islands, Iceland and North America, including Arkansas.

Hobbs adds extra eagle trips

Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area has scheduled extra eagle-watch cruises on Beaver Lake during the holiday season. Weekday trips have been added to the usual Saturday and Sunday schedule.

Cruises during Thanksgiving week will be Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Weekday cruises also will be scheduled during weeks of Christmas and New Years. All cruises leave at 3 p.m. from Rocky Branch Marina aboard the park’s 20-passenger pontoon boat. Trips last about 90 minutes.

Reservations are required and can be made by calling the visitor center, 479-789-5000. Cost is $10 for adults or $5 for children 6-12.

Hobbs hosts Green Friday

Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area is hosting activities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday to celebrate Green Friday.

Free activities include: Ozark Plateau Trail Scavenger Hunts, learning about native insects, old timey crafts and games, fly tying exhibition, live snake programs and more activities in the visitor’s center.

The park’s visitor center is located on Arkansas 12 just east of the War Eagle Road intersection.
