"The little sophomore played extremely well," said Huntsville coach Charlie Berry. "Watkins is a good player, and she has the green light."

Huntsville hit 9 of 14 3-point attempts, including 7 of 11 in the first half. The Lady Eagles were also 8 of 8 from the free-throw line during the final 1 minute, 35 seconds of the game, including six straight from Watkins. Delanie Tipton was also in double figures with 10 points for Huntsville.

"We shot the ball well," Berry said. "We had our good shooters shooting free throws, and that is what you want to see. We are awfully young, and to go on the road and get a win like this is big."

Rogers (1-1) took a 29-28 lead early in the third quarter on a 3-pointer by Maddi McKinney, but Watkins hit a 3-pointer during a 10-2 Huntsville run that gave the Lady Eagles a 38-31 lead.

Rogers was within three points early in the fourth period after a 3-pointer by Emma Wisdom made it a 40-37 game, but the Lady Mounties went 4:32 between field goals as Huntsville pulled way.

"Huntsville shot it so well," said Rogers coach Preston Early. "Huntsville made a ton of shots that just broke our back. We missed opportunities on offense. We battled back, and then Huntsville scores 10 points in the blink of an eye. We are a lot closer than we have been, we just have to make more plays."

Elise Randels led Rogers with 15 points while McKinney and Samantha Brown added nine points each for the Lady Mounties. Rogers travels to Prairie Grove tonight.
