LIVE! in NWA

RED WOOD RISING — Folk rock/blues band Red Wood Rising will perform at 7:30 p.m. today at the Dickson Street Pub in Fayetteville. In April of this year, the Tulsa quintet released its second album “These Fires,” 13 songs exploring pain, loss and heartache that were a year in the making. The extra time spent in the studio really pushed these musicians to new heights as they honed their songwriting skills and sought out new sounds. According to their website, “all members are multi-instrumentalists, which enables them to perform some unique arrangements and fit their musical styles into any setting.” redwoodrising.com. SHANE SMITH & THE SAINTS — Texas troubadours Shane Smith & The Saints released their elegantly gritty sophomore album “Geronimo” in September and are making a stop at George’s Majestic Lounge Saturday during their promotional tour. Combining elements of rock, Cajun folk, Celtic/Irish music and Americana, the band resonates with many different groups. Joining the quintet is red dirt/Texas country group Jason Boland & The Stragglers. The group is also touring in support of its most recent album, “Squelch,” released Oct. 9 and called by Rolling Stone “a soundtrack of outlaw twang and raw, ragged honkytonk.” Cost is $15. shanesmithmusic.com, thestragglers.com.
