Jammin Java to offer warm beverages, pastries at Lights of the Ozarks

The annual Lights of the Ozarks illumination of the Fayetteville Square kicks off tonight at 6 p.m. with the "Lighting Night Parade," and local coffee shop Jammin Java will have a front-row venue to the parade festivities.

In addition to their storefront on the Fayetteville Square, Jammin Java puts up a food tent for quick-to-grab coffee, hot chocolate and pastries during special events on the Square.

While best known for its fresh-brewed hot coffee and espresso drinks, Jammin Java offers a broad selection of fruit smoothies, frozen coffee drinks, chai, hot chocolate, mimosas, beer and wine. The 100 percent all-natural smoothies include pina colada and lemonade, as well as raspberry, peach and mango.

In addition to muffins, bagels, cookies, brownies and dessert bars, the coffee shop cooks hot breakfast items to order. The morning menu includes a breakfast burrito, biscuits and gravy, breakfast panini and granola and fruit.

For lunch, deli sandwiches, soup and fresh salads are served. A local favorite is the Albuquerque Turkey with hickory-smoked turkey, Swiss cheese, tomato, avocado, organic greens and mayonnaise. Grilled sandwiches include The "Full" Monte Cristo with maple ham, Swiss and provolone cheeses, jam and powdered sugar.

House-made soups are a hot item especially on cold days and evenings. There is a rotating soup schedule that includes chicken gumbo, potato bacon, broccoli-cheese, Baja chicken, and Southern-style chili.

Customers who bring their own mug can get a drip-brew coffee refills for $1.

Weekly specials are foundation offerings of Jammin' Java. Mondays offer baked mac-n-cheese with a choice of one meat and two toppings. Tuesday's feature is double-punch day for customers' drink cards. Beer Brats on Wednesday help get a person through mid-week with a beer-boiled brat and a choice of nine toppings. Thirsty Thursdays provide $3 local draft beers. Fridays end the work week with a special on taco salads and Frito chili pies.

Jammin' Java is a local business that prides itself on featuring products from other small local business. Local products carried include items from Stone Mill Bakery, Ozark Natural Bread Company and War Eagle Mill, among others. Packaged goods for customers to take home include handcrafted mugs crafted by Rich Brotherton of Enchanted Forest Pottery.

Full catering service is also available for breakfast, lunch or dinner with food and/or beverages. Jammin' Java has a location at XNA and at the Northwest Arkansas Mall for serving out-of-town guests or local patrons.

"We do a lot of morning meetings with continental-style pastries, fruit, coffee, hot tea, etc.," owner Brandon Karn said.
