FAYETTEVILLE -- Fayetteville police arrested Max Kimes, 43, of 20558 Springston Ford Road in Elkins on Saturday in connection with felony possession of a controlled substance and felony possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers arrived at 2932 N. Sunny Lane at 4:55 p.m. Saturday, after a landlord called police because tenants told him that they saw a man and a woman crawl through a window of the unoccupied duplex, according to police records.

A car left running with its doors unlocked was parked in the driveway when the first officer arrived, according to a preliminary police report. As the officer walked around the building, he saw a man with his sleeve rolled up injecting himself with an orange syringe.

Police approached the front door as Kimes and a woman walked out, according to a preliminary police report. Kimes fumbled with his pockets when he spotted police, and police found an orange syringe with methamphetamine near where he had been standing.

Kimes was being held Sunday in the Washington County Detention Center on $2,500 bond.
