The man who is suspected of robbing a Bentonville bank in August is in police custody in California, according to Bentonville police.

Police were called at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 28 to the 2501 E. Central Ave. branch of First Security Bank in Bentonville after report of a robbery.

A man entered the bank, handed a note to the teller and left with an undisclosed amount of money, according to a release from the police department.

On Oct. 22, police released information identifying Kenneth Wayne Fisher, Jr., 39, as the man in security footage at the bank. Fisher was passing through the area during the robbery, police said, and was driving an early 2000 model Toyota Avalon.

Evidence collected at the scene connected Fisher to the robbery, according to police news releases.

Fisher was arrested Monday on an Arkansas warrant by an officer with Fountain Valley Police Department, according to Bentonville police.

Fisher, who was driving the same car police were looking for in October, drove away when a California officer tried to stop him, according to Bentonville police. A 10-mile pursuit ended when Fisher ran out of gas and was arrested.

Fisher is being held in the Orange County Jail in Santa Ana, Calif., and is awaiting extradition to Arkansas, police said Monday.
