Henderson students arrested after OBU campus vandalized

ARKADELPHIA — Authorities say seven Henderson State University students have been arrested after the neighboring Ouachita Baptist University campus was vandalized ahead of the schools' annual rivalry football game.

Little Rock television station KATV reported that someone painted a red "H'' on the turf at Ouachita's football field. Vandals also spray-painted, put sugar in gas tanks and slashed tires on vehicles on campus.

The students were arrested on charges of first-degree criminal mischief.

Henderson State said the behavior "falls far below the expectations we have of our students." Both schools urged students to avoid such pranks so the rivalry game can continue.

The Reddies and Tigers are set to face off Saturday at 1 p.m. at Ouachita Baptist in the "Battle of the Ravine."
