An Arkansas Department of Correction inmate died Monday afternoon in a construction accident at the department's Ester Unit in Pine Bluff.
According to an email from Correction Department spokesman Cathy Frye, Richard W. Eaton, 38, was electrocuted while working on a metal ceiling at the unit. He was pronounced dead at 3:49 p.m. Monday.
Arkansas State Police were called to the unit and are investigating Eaton's death.
Eaton was convicted of rape in 2003 in Hot Spring County and was serving a 25-year sentence.
