The winner of the Democratic primary for county judge will face state Rep. Micah Neal, R-Springdale. Neal is leaving his state representative seat to run for the county position. Incumbent judge Marilyn Edwards is leaving her office, but is challenging fellow Democrat and Quorum Court member Eva Madison of Fayetteville in her re-election bid in the District 9 race.

Incumbent county assessor Russell Hill will face opposition in November from Democrat Carol Waddle, a Fayetteville real estate broker. There is a contested Republican primary for county collector between candidates Teresa Soares and Angela Wood. The winner will have no Democratic opposition in November. No other courthouse incumbents with a countywide position were challenged.

In the Justice of the Peace, District 3 race, incumbent Republican Harvey Bowman will face Democratic challenger Andrew Gaber of Springdale. Gaber teaches at NorthWest Arkansas Community College. In District 2, Republican H. Roddy Lloyd faces no Democratic opposition. Lloyd is the husband of Sharon Lloyd, who is leaving that justice of the peace position to run for state Senate.

In District 5, incumbent Republican Joe Patterson faces Democrat Stacy Cavender. In District 8, incumbent Democrat Daniel William Balls faces a challenge from Republican Samuel Taylor. Democrat Joseph Kieklak will face Republican Patrick Robert Briney in the open District 11 election.

District 13 incumbent Joel Maxwell faces a challenger in the primary, fellow Republican Laurie Roy-Smith. Democratic incumbent Ann Harbison faces a general election challenge from Republican Jim Renfrow in District 14. All other incumbent Quorum Court members are unopposed.

In nonpartisan judicial races, District Judge, Division 2 incumbent Graham Nations faces a challenge from Casey Copeland of Prairie Grove. This is Copeland's first run for office.

Joanna Taylor, circuit judge for Division 7, did not draw opposition for re-election. Neither did District Judges Jeff Harper, Casey Jones and Bill Storey.
