1 pedestrian, 2 drivers die in 3 accidents

A Holly Grove man died early Monday when the vehicle he was driving left a state highway and struck a tree in Monroe County, Arkansas State Police said.

Kevin L. Brown, 34, of Holly Grove was driving a 1997 Buick west on Arkansas 86 when he lost control of the vehicle and it left the road, hitting the tree, state police reported.

The wreck occurred at 1:02 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Arkansas 86 and Arkansas 366 east of Holly Grove, according to state police. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the vehicle, Yaminah Dawson, 24, of Clarendon was injured and taken to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, state police said.

Conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash.

State police reported on Saturday that a Magnolia man died earlier that morning in a one-vehicle wreck in Columbia County.

Jesse James Manning, 60, of Magnolia was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado east on Columbia County Road 11 when he lost control of the truck and it left the road and collided with a tree, state police said. Manning was pronounced dead at the scene.

The wreck occurred at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, according to state police.

It was raining and the road was wet at the time of the crash.

State police also reported on Saturday that a Memphis man was struck and killed by a car while crossing Interstate 40 in Crittenden County on Friday night.

Jerry W. Robinson, 62, of Memphis was walking north across the westbound lane of I-40 when he was hit by a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu traveling west, according to state police.

Robinson was hit at 8 p.m. Friday at the 279 mile marker, state police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:55 p.m.

Conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the wreck.
