John Pelphrey led Arkansas to an 86-72 victory over Indiana in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament in 2008, his first season as the Razorbacks’ coach, but he never managed to get Arkansas back to the tournament.

The SEC Network announced Thursday that it has hired John Pelphrey as a game analyst.

The former player and coach has spent time at three schools in the conference. He was a player at Kentucky, a head coach at Arkansas and, most recently, an assistant coach at Florida.

During four seasons with the Razorbacks, Pelphrey went 69-59 and led Arkansas to one NCAA Tournament appearance. He was fired after the 2010-11 season.

Pelphrey was then hired as an assistant at Florida, where he helped Billy Donovan lead the Gators to three straight Elite Eight appearances and a Final Four. When Donovan left to coach the Oklahoma City Thunder, Pelphrey was not retained by Michael White at Florida.

It was his second stint at Florida, as he was on Donovan's staff during his first six seasons in Gainesville.

As a player at Kentucky, Pelphrey was a two-time captain and led the Wildcats to the 1992 Elite Eight.

Pelphrey is the latest in a line of former Arkansas coaches to be hired as a TV analyst. Stan Heath is a color analyst for ESPNU and Houston Nutt is a studio analyst for CBS Sports Network.
