One still in hospital after Tuesday plane landing in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE -- One person remained in the hospital Wednesday afternoon after an airplane landed on a busy road Tuesday across from the Fayetteville High School.

Clifford Slincard, 59, who co-piloted the Cirrus SR22T that landed on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, was listed in good condition at Washington Regional Medical Center, Gina Maddox, spokeswoman, said.

Police spelled Slincard's name with a "c," and the hospital spelled the name with a "k."

Others in the plane were Bill Simon, 56, the former Walmart U.S. president and CEO and Maurice Willis, 47. Simon was treated and released for minor injuries at the hospital. There was no record of Willis at the hospital.

The plane crashed after it lost oil pressure and the pilot deployed an airframe parachute on the plane, officials said Tuesday.

The plane's wreckage was removed from the street Tuesday afternoon.

Federal officials are investigating but that could take months to complete, a FAA spokesman said in email Wednesday.
