TASTING EVENT

The Fresh Market will feature a "Taste of the Holidays" sampling event on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. Items available for sampling include spiral sliced ham, shrimp cocktail and smoked salmon, as well as side dishes and desserts. BAKING HELP

The Crisco Pie Hotline -- (877) 367-7438 -- provides information and tips to assist bakers with some of the most common pie-baking challenges. Recorded tips are available 24 hours a day, with pie experts available 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday year-round, and 7 a.m.-7 p.m Monday through Friday Nov. 16-25; 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 14--23. Assistance is also available in Spanish. Live experts are not available Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

COOKING DEMONSTRATION

As part of the annual Eureka Springs Food and Wine Weekend, Cuisine Karen will host cooking demonstrations from 10 a.m. to 2

p.m. Nov. 13 and Nov. 20, and hands-on classes 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 14, 15 and 21. The demonstration is $40 per person. The classes are $50 per person. Topics and foods featured will include butternut squash and walnut salad on arugula with walnut vinaigrette; the secrets of roasting vegetables and the five mistakes most people make; and Valrhona chocolate layer cake with chocolate buttercream. BOOK SIGNING

Also part of Eureka Springs Food and Wine Weekend, Fresh Harvest, 512 Village Circle, will host a book signing for Healthy Options for Everyday by Sheila Reese and Casey Sams, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 14. Samples of the recipes from the book will be available throughout the day. In addition, Fresh Harvest will offer free tasting tours of its olive oils and balsamic vinegars.
