Zach George was the model of consistency for Arkansas State’s baseball team this season, reaching base in all 55 games and ending his career with a 74-game on-base streak that dates back to the start of the 2013 season.

George, a senior from Paragould, was limited to 19 games the past two seasons — 10 in 2014 and 9 in 2013 — because of knee injuries.

George received his highest individual honor Thursday when he was named a third-team All-American by Collegiate Baseball.

“His approach and consistency at the plate with his leadership this season with our team are definitely deserving of this award,” ASU Coach Tommy Raffo said.

George finished his final season as the national leader in on-base percentage (.548) and led the Sun Belt Conference with a .399 batting average. He also led the Sun Belt in hits (81), walks (52) and doubles (52). George’s 52 walks were a school record.

George is ASU’s first All-American since Josh Yates in 2007.
