HOT SPOTS

GREERS FERRY Bass fishing is good all over the lake around bushes on small secondary points. Bream fishing is good in bedding areas and baited areas up shallow using crickets and night crawlers. Crappie are suspended out in front of the bushes or over brush piles and pole timber in 15-30 feet of water. Catfishing is good all over the lake.

LAKE MAUMELLE Largemouth bass are biting well on wacky-rigged worms, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and jerk baits in 10 feet of water and less. Crappie fishing is fair in about 15 feet of water, but recent rains have scattered the fish. Bream are biting well in 10-15 feet of water around brush. Catfish are biting well in 10-15 feet of water on stink bait, small bream and chicken livers.

MILLWOOD LAKE Trees, logs, grass mats and wide debris fields are coming downriver in extremely heavy current. Several river buoy markers are missing in Little River with heavy current. Use extreme caution. Some nice bass are being caught in pockets along the golf course and Millwood State Park on a variety of lures. Crappie are beginning to improve around cypress trees in 6-9 feet of water using Southern Pro tubes and jigs. Catfish are being caught on trotlines set along Little River current and in creek mouths where current is moving through.

LAKE NORFORK The fish are constantly on the move with the changing conditions. Stripers are on top as well as 20-40 feet deep. Bluegills can be found near the banks, but the bigger ones are still about 20 feet deep off bluff lines. Use crickets, worms or niblets. Crappie have moved out to the brush in 15-30 feet of water. They are biting best on live minnows. Catfishing is good in the coves and creeks using night crawlers and small bluegills.

WHITE RIVER High numbers of trout can be found from the dam below Bull Shoals Lake to Cotter and beyond. Fly-fishermen are having great success fishing zebra midges of all colors and sizes dressed in many bead and wire combinations. Stimulator or hopper patterns are catching some large brown trout.
