NWA LETTERS

Why not shoot to injure?

We hear all this news about unarmed men being shot dead by policemen. Is it necessary? Why not have a regulation that an unanned person could only be “Tased” or shot in tlie leg? An unarmed man shot in the leg could not be a formidable opponent. If he still seems so, shoot him in the other leg, not in the heart. An unarmed man with a bullet in each leg is not going anywhere without help. He could hardly be a threat. Think of all the tragedy and heartache it would save.

Don’t rock that boat or else

Is there a pattern developing here? For many years Bella Vista Property Owners Association has had a written or unwritten policy that board members are not to speak about board business outside the boardroom. Board member Larry Verissimo violated that policy when he wrote State Rep. Donna Hutchinson a letter asking a simple question to pose to the Arkansas attorney general. They kicked him off the board. Duly elected POA board member Jim Parsons refused to sign the document promising that he would not speak. Would Mr. Parsons give up his First Amendment right of free speech? I don’t think so.

They kicked him off the board.

POA board member Linda Leffler apparently said something after last month’s regular monthly board meeting that the other board members did not like. But few outside the board have heard what the specific charges are.

They kicked her off the board.

Currently, Bentonville School Board member Wendi Cheatham presented a question to her state senator, Bart Hester. Bentonville School Board President Travis Riggs has now said she should resign. Once when I was addressing the board, this is the same Travis Riggs who said, “Mr. Parsons, take your business and go elsewhere.”

Will she be forced to resign?

The pattern that seems to be going on here is if a board member’s opinions don’t match the other board members’, the opposing members vote them off the board and appoint a person of the same cloth.

Is it fair to say, “the whole thing is Rigged?”
