UA moves to 13th before play halted

Arkansas was among 13 teams that failed to complete the second round Saturday before lightning suspended play at the NCAA Women's Championship at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla.

Play was suspended at 6:25 p.m Central Saturday. It was the second consecutive day play was suspended. The first round was delayed twice Friday.

Play is scheduled to resume at 7:25 a.m. today.

Arkansas started the day tied for 20th at 310 but had moved into a tie for 13th with Texas A&M and Alabama at 20 over par and its players on Nos. 16-18 when play was suspended.

The Razorbacks need to stay in the top 15 to make the cut after three rounds

Arkansas' Gaby Lopez, who was tied for third after the first round with a 2-under 70, is tied for fifth at 4 over through 16 holes. She will face a birdie putt on No. 17 when play is resumed.

Alana Uriell is tied for 48th and 2 over through 17. Regina Plasencia is tied for 64th as 7 over through 17 holes and was on No. 18 when play was suspended.

Summar Roachell and Samantha Marks were the only two Razorbacks who managed to complete their rounds Saturday. Roachell shot a 78 and is tied for 97th at 17-over 161. Marks shot an 81 and is tied for 115th at 22-over 166.

Southern California's Annie Park leads event at 2 under through 11 holes after shooting a 70 on Friday. Alabama's Emma Talley is second at 1-under 143. Duke's Leona Maguire and Tennessee's A.J. Newell are tied for third at 1 over through 15 holes. Stanford's Mariah Stackhouse finished her round tied for fifth at 2-over 146.

Southern California, which shot a 297 in the first round and was four strokes behind leaders Duke and Stanford, led the tournament at 14 over par with its players having completed Nos. 11-14. Duke was second at 23 over with its players on Nos. 15-18, and Tennessee was third at 27 over with its players on Nos. 13-15.

Of the 12 schools that managed to complete the second round, Baylor (604) had the best 36-hole score among the 12 schools that managed to complete the second round. Purdue and UC Davis are tied for fifth at 609.
