Fitzgerald leads Harrison

Drew Fitzgerald, who will play at College of the Ozarks next season, gave Harrison the lift it needed to win the Class 5A championship.

Fitzgerald, the game’s MVP, allowed 1 run on 5 hits over 6 innings to help the Goblins beat defending champion White Hall 2-1 at Baum Stadium. 10C

Late runs power Scranton

After two consecutive exits in the Class 1A semifinals, Scranton made the most of its trip to the championship game Saturday afternoon.

The Rockets broke open a close game late with four runs in the sixth inning and went on to defeat Concord 6-1 at Bogle Park. 11C

CLASS 7A BOYS SOCCER

Bentonville defends title

Bennett Moehring’s free kick turned out to be just what Bentonville needed Saturday at Razorback Field.

Moehring’s kick was first touched by Fort Smith Northside defender Luis Iturriaga, but he deflected the ball into his team’s own goal, allowing the Tigers to win the Class 7A state title with a 1-0 victory. 12C
