Police: Springdale man arrested linked to gang activity

A Springdale man linked to gang-related crimes was arrested Saturday in connection with rape, terrorist threatening, false imprisonment and a misdemeanor offense, police said in a preliminary report.

Pascual Carbajal, 21, of 401 Geneva St. in Springdale was arrested after police said he raped, beat and threatened a woman Friday night and into Saturday morning, May 1 and 2, according to the report. The beating and abuse spanned roughly nine hours while the woman’s three small children were in the home, according to the report.

The woman eventually was able to escape and run to a neighbor’s home to call police, according to the report. She was taken to Northwest Medical Center-Springdale.

Carbajal, who calls himself “Aimer,” is linked to a gang called Wicked Brown Suspects, according to the report. The gang has been involved in stealing weapons and shooting at people, police have said.

Carbajal has an extensive criminal history, including rape, possession of a controlled substance with the intent of delivering, theft of property and carrying certain prohibited weapons, according to Springdale police.

Carbajal was last arrested March 29 in connection with possession of a firearm by a certain person and fleeing, according to news records. His bond at the time was $3,500.

Carbajal was on probation when police said he attacked the woman, according to the police report.

“Aimer” is the name of the man a teenager told police he and his friends were looking for when they shot and killed Jimmy Rodriguez, 20, last month, according to police reports and a probable cause affidavit.

Police arrested last month Jose Delatorre, 18, Rodolfo Martinez, 18, and Giovanni Vasquez-Sanchez, 18, in connection to the death of Rodriguez. Martinez is believed to be the man who shot Rodriguez, according to a police news release. Vasquez-Sanchez drove the vehicle, police said.

An unnamed 13-year-old boy was also involved in the shooting, police said.

Delatorre told police the teens were looking for a rival gang member named “Aimer,” records show.

Police consider Carbajal a flight risk because he tried to flee Saturday and led them on a vehicle pursuit that injured himself and others, according to the report.

He was at the Washington County Detention Center with no bond and a hold from another department Saturday.
