Hogs clinch series to close regular season

Arkansas scored eight runs over the first three innings Saturday and easily beat Georgia 8-1 to close the regular season.

Andrew Benintendi and Brett McAfee each had two hits as the Razorbacks won their seventh conference series of the season. Benintendi finished the regular season with a .415 average to win the SEC batting title.

Tyler Spoon had a two-run double in the first inning and Carson Shaddy also added two RBIs. The Razorbacks chased Georgia starter Robert Tyler after he gave up all eight runs in 2 2/3 innings.

James Teague pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the win for Arkansas. Teague, Jackson Lowery, Josh Alberius and Zach Jackson combined to strike out 10 Georgia batters.

The Bulldogs scored their only run in the sixth inning after a leadoff triple by Jared Walsh.

Arkansas finished the regular season with a 33-20 record overall and 17-12 record in SEC games.

The Razorbacks won 22 of their final 30 games after an 11-12 start and didn't lose a conference series their final eight weeks.

Arkansas will play Tuesday as the No. 5 seed at the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Alabama. The Razorbacks will play either Alabama or Tennessee in the nightcap.

Georgia (26-28, 10-19 SEC) was eliminated from postseason play.
