According to information from Siloam Springs city government, at approximately 3:47 pm this afternoon a Siloam Springs Police School Resources Officer became aware of a suspicious package in the parking lot of Northside Elementary located at 501 W. Elgin in Siloam Springs.
School had already dismissed upon the discovery of the package.
In the interest of safety, a two block perimeter was established and effected residents we asked to evacuate their homes.
The Bentonville Bomb Squad was summoned to evaluate the item and arrived at approximately 5:05 pm.
There are no injuries associated with this event, and we ask that all media, citizens and any other interested parties stay away from the West Elgin area until such time that we can ensure the scene is safe.
