Texas college leader applies to be chancellor at Phillips

The Phillips Community College chancellorship has drawn another candidate, bringing the total applicants to 19.

Ann Bolman of Magnolia, Texas, applied for the position last week, according to documents released by the University of Arkansas System. Bolman is currently the vice president of campus services at Lone Star College-Montgomery in Texas and served as the college's vice president of instruction before that.

Bolman joins 18 other applicants vying for the chancellor's position at Phillips Community College, an arm of the UA System. Steven Murray, 64, who currently holds the post, plans to retire from the job June 30.

The candidates vary from an Amarillo, Texas, attorney to area college administrators. A 17-member search committee is reviewing applications as they come in and plans to select six to eight candidates for telephone or Skype interviews in April. The group will further whittle down the list to three or four finalists, who will visit the campuses in Helena-West Helena, DeWitt and Stuttgart during a two-day period.

The committee is hoping to have a recommendation for UA System President Donald Bobbitt by May. Bobbitt will then submit the recommendation to the system's board of trustees later that month.

Interested candidates can submit an application, a letter of interest, a curriculum vitae and three letters of reference. Packets can be mailed to: PCCUA Chancellor Search Committee, Rhonda St. Columbia, P.O. Box 785, Helena-West Helena, Ark. 72342.
