Search continues for body in Beaver Lake

BENTONVILLE -- The Benton County sheriff's office released the name of the woman who reportedly drowned Tuesday in Beaver Lake.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Keshia Guyll identified the woman as Stacey Hernandez, 21, of Rogers.

The family was renting a cabin on the lake when five from the group went out on the water in a paddle boat and canoe. The boats capsized and the group scattered. The missing woman didn't have a life jacket.

The initial 911 call came in at 4 p.m. Tuesday and searching was called off at 9 p.m. Searchers returned to the lake at 7 a.m. Wednesday, but severe weather forced them off the lake at 4 p.m. The search continued Thursday and Friday.

Sheriff's Capt. Lynn Hahn said the weather was cold and windy when the search resumed Friday morning.

Searchers are using sonar equipment in an effort to find Hernandez.

"The wind made it difficult to keep a good grid," Hahn said.

Sonar on Friday indicated an image authorities thought might be a body, Hahn said. Divers checked the area but didn't find anything, Hahn said.

The search will resume this morning if authorities aren't successful in locating the body Friday, Hahn said.
