Beaver Lake: The white bass spawning run up the White and War Eagle rivers is in the early stages.

Kenny Stroud at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers said white bass are biting from Hickory Creek park south into the White and War Eagle river arms. Lures that resembles a minnow should work. The top live baits are crawdads and minnows. White bass fishing should improve steadily into April.

For black bass, Stroud recommends jerk baits, crawdad-colored crank baits, Alabama rigs and football jigs. No report on crappie. Average water temperature is 48-52 degrees.

Garland Villines at Hickory Creek Marina said white bass are biting in the White River arm, including the twin bridges access where Arkansas 45 crosses the White River at Goshen.

Try crank baits or jerk baits for black bass, Villines said.

Beaver tailwater: Lisa Mullins at the Beaver Dam Store said the top flies for trout are midges and scuds in low water. Try Clouser minnows during power generation. Generation is mainly in the mornings.

Best lures are countdown Rapalas and micro jigs. White or yellow Power Bait is the top bait.

Lake Fayetteville: Dolly Black at Lake Fayetteville boat dock said black bass are biting plastic worms on a shaky-head rig. White bass are biting white grubs. Crappie are slow, she said.

Lake Sequoyah: Mike McBride at Lake Sequoyah bait shop said black bass fishing is good with plastic worms. Andy Stone caught a 6-pounder this week. Lots of 4- to 6-pound bass have been caught.

Crappie fishing is fair with minnows or jigs 4-6 feet deep.

Swepco Lake: Kenny Stroud at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers said the best black bass fishing is at night with large plastic worms. Go with smaller soft plastics for daytime fishing.

Illinois River: Stroud recommends using tube baits or brown/orange marabou jigs for black bass.

Siloam Springs Lake: Stroud said crappie are biting small jigs. Good colors are blue/white or chartreuse/black.

Crystal Lake: Jake Knoedl at Outdoor Tech in Hiwasse said largemouth bass are biting Alabama rigs or plastic worms on a drop-shot or shaky-head rig. Crappie are fair on minnows or Bobby Garland baby shad. Bluegill are biting crickets 10 feet deep.

Bella Vista: Justin McClelland at Hook, Line and Sinker in Bella Vista said jerk baits or soft plastics are working for largemouth bass 8 to 20 feet deep at all Bella Vista lakes.

Eastern Oklahoma: Kenny Stroud at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers said black bass at Lake Eucha are biting square-bill crank baits in shad patterns. Jerk baits or jigs may also work.

At Grand Lake, the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation reports good white bass fishing at Twin Bridges State Park. Largemouth bass fishing is good along points with jerk baits or Alabama rigs.
