Name released of man killed by dogs in Pine Bluff

PINE BLUFF — The name of the victim of a deadly attack by a group of pit bull dogs has been released.

Jefferson County Sheriff's Maj. Lafayette Woods Jr. said 36-year-old De'Trick Omar Johnson of Pine Bluff died Saturday after being attacked by seven dogs when he took his vehicle to a garage for service. Woods said Johnson was apparently getting out of his vehicle when he was attacked.

Woods said one dog jumped on the patrol car of a deputy who arrived. The deputy eventually shot that dog and three other dogs were shot after other deputies arrived while two more dogs were captured and one escaped.

Woods said the dogs' owner was warned in the past about their aggressive behavior and may face criminal charges as a result of Saturday's attack.
