U.S. Rep. French Hill is one of 21 congressmen who will serve on a task force dedicated to thwarting the financing behind terrorist groups.

Hill, a Republican from Little Rock who represents Arkansas' 2nd Congressional District, on Monday said he was pleased to be among those who will serve on the House Committee on Financial Services' Terrorism Financing Task Force. He said the body will "identify the ways and means to infiltrate and eliminate these dangerous groups as we continue our war against terrorism."

"With the growing threat of ISIL and other terror networks, we need to do everything in our power to cripple the efforts of those seeking to harm America," Hill said in a statement. "Along with military and diplomatic strategies, it is essential we shut down the economic backing of ISIL and other terrorist organizations around the world. For too long, the financiers and sympathizers of terrorist groups have hidden deep in the fabric of global business, financial, and nonprofit networks."

The bipartisan task force will be made up of Hill and 11 other Republicans and nine Democrats. It is set to be led by Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick, R-Pa.

Financial Service Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, last week released the roster of representatives who are set to serve on the task force. The committee will vote Wednesday on a resolution creating it, officials said.

House task forces can exist for no longer than six months.
