LSU routs Arkansas to even series

— After Arkansas thrashed LSU's starting pitching Thursday, the No. 1 Tigers returned the favor Friday.

LSU chased Razorbacks starter James Teague in the fourth inning of a 16-3 win over Arkansas at Baum Stadium. The Tigers (20-3, 3-2 SEC) evened the best-of-three series at a game apiece.

LSU recorded 16 hits off an Arkansas pitching staff throwing for the fourth time in as many days. The Razorbacks held staff ace Trey Killian for Saturday's 2:05 p.m. rubber game.

The Tigers scored two runs in the top of the first inning and two more in the top of the fourth to take the lead. Arkansas loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the fourth, but could only produce one run on a sacrifice fly by Tyler Spoon.

Designated hitter Chris Sciambra had a three-run triple in the fifth inning. LSU second baseman Jared Foster added a seventh inning two-run home run that cleared the seats above the bullpen in left field to give the Tigers a 10-1 lead.

LSU starting pitcher Alex Lange allowed three hits in seven innings to remain undefeated. Lange struck out six batters and lowered his earned run average to 1.42.

Making his first regular season SEC start, Teague allowed four runs on seven hits in three-plus innings. Keaton McKinney allowed four run in one-plus inning and Jonah Patten gave up the home run to Foster.

LSU added six more runs off Cannon Chadwick in the ninth inning. Carson Shaddy hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth for the Razorbacks.

Arkansas (11-10, 1-4 SEC) allowed a team to score at least nine runs for the seventh time this season.
