Two Lane Blacktop returns to Town Pump for a show at 9 p.m. Friday. Admission is $5.

The group -- who are all considered "elder statesmen" of the central Arkansas rock scene -- consists of drummer Ray Wittenberg, bassist Bill McCumber and guitarists Wythe Walker and John Gaiser.

Acoustic guitarist Ed Gerhard will perform at 7:30 p.m. today in the third show of a monthly series of instrumental music at The Joint. Tickets are $20.

Gerhard, a part of the New Hampshire music scene since 1977, plays six- and 12-string, slide and acoustic Hawaiian lap slide guitars. He released a debut album, Night Birds, in 1987, and won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Album for his version of Henry Mancini's "Moon River" on a guitarists' tribute album, Henry Mancini: Pink Guitar.

His latest and eighth album, Sunnyland, is an homage to his early blues heroes.

The New Orleans jazz/funk group, formed some 38 years ago as the house band for the Dirty Dozen Social and Pleasure Club, is led by original members Gregory Davis (trumpet) and Roger Lewis (baritone sax). The group has played on albums by David Bowie, Elvis Costello, Dr. John, Modest Mouse and The Black Crowes.

DSYE will share the billing with Felix Martin and Colour Design at 9:30 p.m. Friday. DSYE is a German punk rock duo who sing in German and English. Martin is an ambidextrous Venezuelan guitarist who plays a 14-string guitar he designed. Colour Design is a new local band -- making its debut performance -- featuring members of The Sound of the Mountain and Mainland Divide, plus singer Shawn Hood of God City Destroyers.
