Police seek driver in fatal Benton County hit-and-run

A vehicle police say left the scene of a fatal wreck early Tuesday in Bentonville.

Bentonville police are looking for a dark-colored car involved in a fatal hit-and-run wreck just before 7 a.m. Tuesday, said Capt. John Hubbard.

Aron Nathaniel Romero, 33, of Centerton, was driving a 2001 Honda XTR motorcycle east on Arkansas 12 when he changed lanes and rear-ended a Honda Accord, according to an Arkansas State Police crash report. Romero went into the westbound lane and was hit by a third vehicle, which fled the scene.

According to a news release from the Bentonville Police Department, the third vehicle was possibly a 1999-2003 Acura sedan. Police ask anyone who can help locate the driver and vehicle to call 479-271-3170.

The driver of the Honda Accord was not injured, according to the report. Weather conditions were reported as clear and dry.
