Gentry man pleads guilty, sentenced for sexual assault

A Gentry man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl.

Ross Lloyd Chadwell, 54, pleaded guilty to sexual assault in the second degree. He was charged as a habitual offender since he had been convicted of four prior felonies.

The plea was under an agreement that Chadwell’s attorney Jay Saxton, chief public defender, reached Stuart Cearley, chief deputy prosecutor.

Circuit Judge Robin Green accepted the plea agreement and Chadwell’s guilty plea.

Chadwell was sentenced to 15 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction. He will have to serve one-sixth of the sentenced before he is eligible for parole. He will have to abide by a suspended sentence agreement for 10 years after his release from prison.
