Sidewalk work to close Markham Road in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE -- A 1,000-foot stretch of Markham Road west of Reynolds Razorback Stadium is closed for five weeks.

City Transportation crews are installing new sidewalk, curb and gutter on the south side of Markham between Cross and Palmer avenues, according to a city news release.

The work is expected to take football fans out of the street during gamedays. It will connect sidewalks on Markham and tie into sidewalks on Cross Avenue, Halsell Road and Sang Avenue.

"That'll complete the connection from Loren Circle all the way over to Razorback Road," Keith Shreve, assistant transportation manager, told the city's Active Transportation Advisory Committee last week.

Work hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Detour routes will be marked.
