Fayetteville police arrest man in connection with aggravated robbery Friday night

FAYETTEVILLE -- A Fayetteville man was arrested Friday night after police said he was shoplifting and threatened a loss-prevention officer at a Dillard's store, according to a preliminary police report Saturday.

Ladarius Devon Hartaway, 23, 1501 N. Giles Road in Fayetteville was arrested Friday in connection with aggravated robbery, shoplifting and fleeing. He was at the Washington County Detention Center with a $10,000 bond Saturday.

The loss-prevention officer said he stopped two men -- Hartaway and a 17-year-old boy, according to a preliminary police report. The two were concealing items at Dillard's, 4201 N. Shiloh Drive, according to the report. The men tried to leave without paying, the report said.

Hartaway reached toward his front right pocket and said "where's my blade?" the officer told police, according to the report. The loss-prevention officer said Hartaway demanded he get away or "I'll stab you in the neck," according to the preliminary report.

The two men fled but were caught and arrested by police on Joyce Avenue, according to the report. Police found items belonging to Dillard's, the report said. Hartaway had property valued at nearly $100, the report said.

Police didn't find a knife in Hartaway's pocket during his arrest, according to the report.
