Arkansas falls to UCLA

Arkansas lost is regular-season finale to UCLA 197.175-195.900 Friday at Barnhill Arena in Fayetteville.

The Razorbacks lost despite a strong performance by freshman Paige Zaziski, who won uneven bars with a 9.950 and the all-around title with a 39.450

She also had a personal best of 9.825 on the floor exercise.

Amanda Wellick led the Razorbacks with a 9.900 on the vault while Zaziski had a 9.850, Heather Elswick had a 9.825 and Stephanie Canizaro had a 9.80.

Erin Freier had a 9.825 on the bars. Sydnie Dillard had a 9.850 on the balance beam while Zaziski and Wellick had a 9.825.

Elswick led with a 9.900 on the floor exercise while Wellick had a 9.875, Dillard and Canizaro had a 9.850 and Zaziski had a 9.825.

State’s D-I teams plagued by rain

The Arkansas Razorbacks’ SEC opener against Vanderbilt was postponed because of heavy rain in Nashville, Tenn.

Arkansas (9-4) and No. 4 Vanderbilt (13-4) will play a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Central today at Hawkins Field, with the final game of the series scheduled for a noon start Sunday.

Arkansas State (8-8) had its Sun Belt opener against Georgia State (10-6) postponed at Tomlinson Stadium in Jonesboro. The game has been rescheduled as part of doubleheader that begins at 4 p.m. today.

UALR (4-8, 1-2) had its series opener against Louisiana-Lafayette (10-5, 3-0) postponed at Gary Hogan Field in Little Rock. The Trojans and Ragin’ Cajuns will open their Sun Belt series at 6 tonight, with a noon doubleheader scheduled for Sunday.

The University of Central Arkansas (8-3, 3-0) had its Southland Conference series opener against Lamar (7-8,0-3) pushed back. The teams will play at 5 p.m. today at Bear Stadium in Conway and will close out the series with an 11 a.m. doubleheader Sunday.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff (6-7) moved its SWAC doubleheader against Southern University (2-10) from Saturday to Sunday at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex in Pine Bluff. The first game is scheduled for noon.
