Fayetteville girls win 7A state championship

Syndey Crockett scored 23 points and Fayetteville beat Conway 80-65 in the Class 7A girls state championship game Saturday in Hot Springs.

The Lady Bulldogs (24-6) won their sixth state championship and first since 2011. Conway was denied back-to-back wins in the championship game.

Fayetteville led 34-31 at halftime and pulled away in the third quarter. Conway pulled within 54-58 with 6:30 remaining, but could get no closer.

Crockett made six three-pointers and earned game MVP honors. Fayetteville made 10 of 23 attempts from beyond the arc.

Jordan Danberry scored 20 points to lead Conway (24-7).
