The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville said Wednesday that it has added to its university relations team Amy Schlesing, a former Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reporter and deputy communications director for Sen. Mark Pryor.
Schlesing, who started as director of science and research communications March 2, succeeds Barbara Jaquish, who retired at the end of 2014, the university said. In this role, she oversees the publication of the university’s research magazine, Research Frontiers, and its related website, and promotes the university’s research programs, UA said.
Schlesing, who holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from UA and a master’s certificate in conflict resolution and communications from Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo., worked as a military policy aid and deputy communications director for Pryor and as a military reporter at the Democrat-Gazette.
“I am excited to be back home at my alma mater and look forward to helping build the future of our university by highlighting all of the fascinating research and work being done by our students and faculty,” Schlesing said in a statement.
